I know you don’t want to hear this. But you are going to regret wearing flip flops every day.
I don’t know when flip-flops became acceptable to wear every day.
Their intended purpose was as a pair of shoes that could slip quickly on and off and get wet at the pool or the beach.
But somewhere along the line, those cheap little pieces of foam and plastic became fashion.
I cringe each time I see a person walking around Disney World in a pair of Dollar Store.
Would you run a 10K in a pair of flip-flops?
No. But you will walk 8-miles around a theme park in them.
You Will Regret Wearing Flip Flops Every Day
You WILL regret wearing flip flops all the time.
They are horrible for your feet.
They have zero support, zero cushioning, and your toes have to make an unnatural motion to grip the shoes to keep them on your feet.
Keep wearing flip-flops, and by the time you are my age you are going to get bunions, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, hammer toe, and they will permanently change your gait.
Let me tell you. I have problems with my feet, and it is not fun.
In fairness, I was born with my foot issues. My feet are as flat as pancakes.
By the time I hit my late forties, I had permanent damage caused by going barefoot and wearing shoes without support. Two of my toes had even spread out into a V-shape that can’t be fixed.
My podiatrist gave me a choice. Wear tennis shoes with custom arch supports all day every day, or have foot surgery in five years.
Wear Better Shoes
So consider this a cautionary tale. Take care of your feet when you are young, so you can still wear sandals and the occasional pair of heels when you are older.
And put your flimsy pair of flip-flops back in your beach bag where they belong.
P.S. Who else remembers when flip-flops were called thongs?
